Definition : 1. To dwell permanently or for a considerable time; to have a settled abode for a time; to abide continuosly; to have one's domicile of home; to remain for a long time. At the moated grange, resides this dejected Mariana. Shak. In no fixed place the happy souls reside. Dryden.
2. To have a seat or fixed position; to inhere; to lie or be as in attribute or element. In such like acts, the duty and virtue of contentedness doth especially reside. Barrow.
3. To sink; to settle, as sediment. [Obs.] Boyle.
